Sometimes...

Its half way through July and the heat is unsettling to say the least.

I saw a pin this morning about cake pops and thought I'd give it another go. The last time my mom and I tried to make this quirky dessert it fell apart... literally.

So there I was in a very hot house, all windows and fans going, debating on whether I wanted to heat the house up more.

I really didn't.

But as it turns out everything I cooked for dinner was in the oven. Because of this the house was even hotter and with the humidity from the incoming storm there was no relief anytime soon.

And you know what?

Sometimes you just have to bake a cake.

After dinner I whipped up a boxed mix and split it between two pans.

A couple hours later and I'm sitting in the living room, Deadliest Catch on TV, a piece of cake before me, and a cup of hot chocolate nearby. There are rain drops on the windows. Its a good night.
