2015

Hello world! It is the year 2015. It's bright, shiny, new, and full of possibilities. First post of 2015! Woohoo! The first half of this will be the cliche resolutions and goals post as you do this time of year. The other will be about more exciting and new things. So I hope you stick around. Onto the cliches!

Goals for 2015:

1. Get drivers liscence

A follow up to last years "get learners permit" which I accomplished in August

2. Get and keep a job

I'm not going to go into to much detail for this one

3. Be creative more frequently

Painting, writing, special effects makeup, cosplay

4. Get rid of stuff

I have stuff. A lot of stuff that I've accumulated over the last nearly 23 years of my life and it's in boxes untouched, unseen, never even thought about. Time to get rid of stuff.

5. Give up soda

Not necessarily caffeine, let's not get too crazy, but overcoming my addiction to soda would be nice

It is quite the list but hopefully I'll complete most if not all of it by the next year. 

You can come back now, I'm done with the boring stuff. Bring on the exciting stuff! Here's a list of things that may be happening in 2015:

1. Visit my penguin

2. Move to Seattle

3. Taylor Swift concert

I know, I know. That last one seems questionable but I'm digging Taylor's new music. I'm a hypocrite of course, but don't be afraid to try new things. Like traveling alone or moving to a new city and living without your family for the first time in your life. These are big, scary important new things that I feel I must do.

Things that concern the content of Awel's Hollow in 2015

1. SyFy's Face Off weekly recap

The syfy channel has a show called Face Off which is a competition for special effects artists. I wouldn't say this began my love affair with characters makeup and cosplay, but I will give it credit for kindling that fire and inspiring me to keep creating. A new season, season 8 I believe, is starting soon and I thought it would be fun to write my thoughts about the weekly challenges and who I'm routing for and such. 

2. A theme week

Once a month I will have a poll posted to the right. Somewhere over that-a-way ----->   It will list the theme of a causal cosplay and/or character makeup I will work on and share with you. Whichever option is the voted the highest will be the character of that month. Runner up will be entered into the mix for Hollow-een 2015 in October. 

3. Lack of content in general

I don't want this to happen. I love writing this blog. But if I start accomplishing things on my list of goals like getting a job or moving to Seattle there may not be that much time to keep it updated. I hope this isn't the case but if it does we'll raise our fists and shout "responsibility!" 

So there it is. My cards on the table. I've shown you my hand. I've been honest. I don't have much of a poker face and I don't know how to even play poker. Maybe I'll add that to one of these crazy lists.

May 2015 be the year you do the thing, slay your dragon, win the heart of fair lady/lord true. You are the chosen one of your own story. Leave your shire and explore the realms you've only read about in books. Read a book. Eat your veggies. Cross your t's and dot your i's. Look both ways before crossing the road. And don't try to reattach your shaddow with soap.
